Now that the weather is finally changing and outside activities are becoming safer, it seems to be a great time for plans to attend socially distanced outside events gatherings. After becoming vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus and most of it’s additional strains I feel more comfortable than ever to get back out there and enjoy the beautiful weather without a mask.
The other week I was invited to attend an event sponsored by the In The Heights movie that was recently released in theaters and in HBO Max. I didn’t need convincing before I began researching hotels in the area for the desired dates. The June 5, 2021 show was set for 7pm and located at Westfield Wheaton Mall in Wheaton, Maryland. I checked into the Courtyard by Marriott Silver Spring Downtown on the day and found a local restaurant for some pre-show nourishment while I waited for my mother to arrive and join me.
We returned to my room to get dressed for the evening and quickly made our way down the road for the 15 minute drive to the mall. The show began promptly at 7pm and we arrived just in time to get to our front-row, center seats as the show was underway.
The host opened the show with an energetic number about Super Hoes! My excitement boiled over as I embraced finally attending my first drag show! The Drag ‘N Drive Saves 2021 drag show was just what I needed to kick off a new summer of fearless adventures.
The talented cast put on an amazing show to help drown out the sorrows of 2020. The choreography and theaters were everything and more with live instruments and even a fire breather! They raised the roof just to break it down and get low. It was magnificent. In addition to the merchandise available for purchase, there were also food trucks and In The Heights movie themed sets to snap photos and tag in social media about the event.
Summer has made it’s presence known so get out there and get some sun! I had a wonderful time and I hope you enjoy these photos I took for you.
