Pandemic Vacations

I see a beautiful, warm, tropical, relaxing beach with views of endless ocean and sun rays for days. I reach over to clasp a mesmerizing glass of swirled icy-cold frozen Mai Tai garnished with a strawberry and an umbrella. I pressed my sun shades up onto my face as they slip a bit from the sweat accumulating on my nose. I look around and take a deep breath just before I close my eyes to soak up the sun.

Pure paradise.

I open my eyes again expecting to see bikinis and beach balls only to discover I’m rudely awakening to….the harsh realities of a New England winter season in America.

Snow and all.

I think it’s safe to say that for those of us who haven’t been on a non-family-visit-to-the-grandparents trip, we are WELL overdue for a trip of our desire. With the clever emergence of Covid-19, we’ve all had to shift our normalcies to cater to this new model of life resembling a functioning society.

I often find myself sifting through old photos of past trips with glimpses of life with less caution. Soon enough, I’m searching Amazon for protective gear to keep safe while traveling via public transportation and making placeholder childcare arrangements.

With weather making life slightly more miserable than it has to be, it’s a no-brainer that I want to take a nice, tropical vacation (if you couldn’t tell by my intro to this post). No wonder retirees move to Florida. I have a couple places in mind to visit but I’ve narrowed it down to my top choice already. Aruba, here I come! (eventually)

We’ve all faced a few or two challenges this past year and we all deserve to let our hair down physically and figuratively (if you don’t have any to hang). I’d love to know where you may have visited during the pandemic, where you are planning to go, or where you want to go.
